Cesar Millan
From AlexWiki
The purpose of this page is to debunk the so-called Cesar Millan debunkers and thus to spread the truth about his methods and pack leadership. If you want to know more about Cesar Millan himself, visit his Wikipedia page. Also I should say that this page is more about defending the methods that Cesar uses and less about defending Cesar himself-- In other words, like Cesar, I am passionate about being one with the Earth and Mother Nature and being able to understand dogs is one of those things. I am a fan of Cesar, but that's not the reason I'm writing this. I honestly wouldn't have even said I loved the man until I read a certain passage in his book Cesar's Way the week before I wrote this article. Truth is the man longs for people to be closer to nature, and I love anyone who shares the love for nature with the world.
I don't have the full time right now to list out everything but there are a couple of things I will put to rest right now. I honestly think people are just jealous of Cesar's success, because that often happens. I've also heard that these methods are not 'his own' and that he simply appropriated methods that have long existed, as if he's some kind of fraud. Of course he's using someone else's techniques! He learned these things on his Grandfather's farm in Mexico. Just because he brought these things to light doesn't make him a fraud or a thief. No one else has brought these methods to as much people as he has! He has, however, structured the methods into a way that many people can easily understand. I mean I seriously doubt that people hundreds of years ago were touting "Exercise, Discipline and then affection" when raising their dogs; They just did it, and they did it well.
I think that in cases one person will watch an episode of Dog Whisperer where they think that Cesar is hurting the dog because to them it looks like he is kicking the dog. I have gotten this too when using the touch-- "Why'd you kick the dog, you're not supposed to kick the dog?" Relax! It's a touch. I have petted my cat before with my foot. It doesn't mean I'm kicking it! .. but then they tell other people about it and these people don't watch for themselves and the original person doesn't see another episode, he or she just becomes biased against Cesar and then it steam rolls from there. Then you have the scientific studies and claims that unless you have a university degree you know nothing. To me, scientific studies aren't much required when talking about common sense things. Like why do a scientific study on why kids get depressed in high school. We were all there, it's obvious. Parents are also to blame because they don't raise their kids properly these days in most cases, which means they don't get the much needed consolation and discipline from parents and thus end up unbalanced, like the dogs Cesar rehabilitates.

Cesar has no degrees therefore he knows nothing about dogs
This is absolutely insane. I basically only have a high school diploma, and until last November had no degrees or certifications in any computer related fields, yet somehow I've managed to land a job as a Web Programmer, a Systems Engineer and have been offered jobs where I would make much more than I'm making now. If I knew nothing about computers I think I wouldn't be in the job I am today. I still don't hold a degree of any kind. I only have my Red Hat Certified Engineer certification. Don't diss on somebody just because they don't have a formal education. He grew up on a farm with many dogs, and he obviously knows his stuff. Just as people in Amazon's reviews of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus say you can't argue with the many people who've said the book has saved their marriage, you can't argue with the many people who say that Cesar's methods have saved their relationship with their dog, and in many cases saved the dog from being put down. You just can't argue with success, and I am one of those success people by the way, unless you think I am on the payroll of Cesar to lie for him. *rolls eyes*
Dogs are not a pack oriented species
Oh no? What about the pack of wild dogs that plagued Moscow residents in February of 2008 as reported by ABC News? There are also packs of wild dogs that roam the New Jersey Pine Barrens as well as other places I am sure. Yes dogs are not wolves but they are the descendants of wolves, and that genetic information is still in their DNA.
We too have genetic information about our ancestors from as much as 75,000 years ago recorded in our DNA.
Cesar never uses toys, treats or allows the dogs to play
This is probably one of the more ridiculous notions. I have seen in many-an-episode of the Dog Whisperer where he uses play in his rehabilitation. He has an atl-atl like thing that throws a tennis ball that he uses to play with the dogs, and he also has toys that he uses in the swimming pool. He often uses treats of some kind to 'redirect' bad behavior, due to the dog's experiencing the world through the nose first, then eyes, then ears. In one episode he used bananas to redirect a dog away from the behavior of constantly eating his own poop.
Conclusion
Cesar is the genuine article and he loves dogs. Are his methods the only way? No, of course not! There is never only one way to anything. In fact, many people accomplish the same exact pack leadership that Cesar does using different methods but the end result is the same. There is a lot more to be said on this matter, but for now this is all I have time for at the current moment.
