Tom Brown III’s blog

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

As many of you (what a paradox that is) may know I am a student of Tom Brown Jr’s Tracker School, and I have learned a lot of amazing things there about nature, our role on this Earth and about our spirituality.

Well, Tom Brown III is Tom Brown Jr’s son, and head instructor at the Tracker School, and he recently put out a blog, and even though he is listed as a friend here I wanted to write an entry specifically to tell you guys about the blog. Why? Because well, after reading the second entry I realize how Grandfather’s wisdom is reaching out through so many very different channels. From the music of Joe Paulik to Tommy’s new blog to me expressing in real-time to friends, family and even strangers (in some cases) my continued astonishment at just how relevant Grandfather’s philosophies are to so many different things that have absolutely nothing to do with tracking, survival or awareness.

Definitely worth reading and bookmarking on your RSS reader:

4 Directions ~ 4 Elements

Check it out!

ps: Those two new blogs are still coming. I have a name for the dog community, and possibly for the tracking blog as well, which may end up being a blog about tracking, or a community like the dog one for tracking, or just for dirt time in general. I’m not sure at this point.

Snapshots

Friday, December 12th, 2008

I had Snapshots on the old blog (the thing that makes popups appear previewing Wikipedia pages and showing website image thumbnails, example: Hover over the speech bubble to the right of that Snapshots link) and I think it’s really cool because bloggers tend to do what Maddox refers to as “making every other word a link.” So I think it’s really nice that if one page links to another page that has an RSS feed, you can actually get the gist of the term/link/whatever without ever leaving the page that you’re on.

I noticed that Adblock Plus blocks Snapshots by default. It seems a lot of people find it annoying. I also noticed that you can set it up so that they will only pop up when you hover over the speech bubble, which is what I have done. In addition you can also set it up right from the popup so that it takes a little longer for the popup to actually appear. I would like this to be the default but it doesn’t seem to be an option currently. I think this will work though. If you find Snapshots really annoying simply avoid any speech bubbles next to links on any of my pages. :-)

Blog back up finally

Friday, December 12th, 2008

It’s taken me a while but I finally got my blog back up, and I’ve decided to make the blog my main page, so this will be the portal to all the pages I maintain. This includes my wiki, as well as other stuff. I know I backed up my old blog database but for some reason I never got around to restoring it. I only restored the wiki and my Subversion repositories.

I also plan to have a separate blog for my World of Warcraft project LiCe, because I don’t really like the way that Curseforge blogs work.
